The brief

A new townhouse with a compact footprint and a lot of hard edges — dark cladding, glass and paving — needed a garden that felt soft, private and finished from day one.

The brief: turn a tight urban courtyard into an outdoor room. Green on every sightline, screening from the neighbours, and planting robust enough to thrive in a warm, reflected-heat corner of the block.

What we delivered

Layered, climate-matched planting does the heavy lifting: ornamental grasses and silver groundcovers spilling over the edges, clipped buxus for structure, and standard topiary in tall fluted concrete planters to draw the eye up.

A crisp strip of lawn gives the family somewhere to be, while horizontal batten screening and potted specimens close the garden off from the street. Everything runs on integrated drip irrigation, so it holds through a Canberra summer with almost no input.

One team, one contract — from planting plan to the last pot placed on site.

How it came together

A new townhouse with a compact footprint and a lot of hard edges — dark cladding, glass and paving — in a warm, reflected-heat corner of the block. It needed to feel soft, private and finished from day one, with green on every sightline and screening from the neighbours.

Planting does the heavy lifting: grasses and silver groundcovers spill over the edges, clipped buxus gives structure, and standard topiary in tall fluted planters draws the eye up. Batten screening and potted specimens close the garden off from the street. One contract carried it from the planting plan to the last pot placed on site.

Everything runs on integrated drip irrigation, so the garden holds through a Canberra summer with almost no input.
