An outdoor room
for four seasons.
Outdoor rooms built for Canberra’s four real seasons — covered alfrescos, decks and outdoor kitchens that extend the house into the garden and get used all year round.

Decks, pergolas and outdoor kitchens that get used
The difference between an alfresco that gets used and one that doesn't is design: where it sits for winter sun and summer shade, how it connects to the kitchen and the garden, and whether lighting and power were planned in rather than added later. We design the outdoor room and the landscape around it together, so the two read as one.
Then our own builders build it — the deck, the pergola or roof, the screening, the outdoor kitchen — and the planting that softens the structure goes in at the same time.

Outdoor rooms we’ve built
Frequently asked
Can an alfresco really be used through a Canberra winter?
That's what it's designed for. A covered structure oriented for winter sun, with lighting and power planned in, is an outdoor room for four seasons rather than a summer-only deck.
Do you build the deck and the garden together?
Yes. The structure and the planting around it are designed as one and built under one contract, so nothing is bolted on afterwards.
Do I need council approval for a pergola or alfresco?
It depends on the size and where it sits on the block. Where approval is needed, our in-house project manager handles the application and the process.
Can you add an outdoor kitchen?
Yes — outdoor kitchens, built-in seating and the power and lighting to run them are part of the alfresco scope.
